Tis the season

...cruise ship season that is. Today the very first ship of the season cruised in and now we get to spend the next 5 months dodging starry-eyed tourists, listening to the fleets of float planes flying by, watching the flocks of helicopters, and answering some very, very stupid questions.

Standing on the docks:
Tourist (just off cruise ship) - "So, how far above sea level are we here?"
Local (looking over edge of dock) - "Well, looks to be about 12 feet."

What an incredibly beautiful picture!

Are you living permanently in Alaska? And I thought we were really putting up with some bad weather to stay in Wisconsin! :)

Ha! Great conversation.

We on the Oregon coast will soon be overrun by tourists too. Ours come in RVs and drive 40 mph on the only road to anywhere. We like their money, but we really like September...when they go away.
